Halloween Prompts for AI Art

Palette and light do half the work

Halloween has a house palette: pumpkin orange, flat black, and one accent. Swap the accent to steer the mood. Acid green reads as witchcraft, deep violet as gothic, bone white as graveyard. Name all three colors and the image sorts itself.

Then light it low. Candlelight, a single lantern, full moon through fog, and window light from a jack-o'-lantern each carry the holiday alone. The lighting wall's low-light words all work here; so does everything foggy on the weather wall.

The cast

The famous subjects need no description: jack-o'-lantern, witch, black cat, skeleton, ghost, haunted Victorian house. Each arrives with its own props and poses.

For a deeper bench, raid the creatures wall. Banshee, Ghoul, Jiangshi, Manananggal, and Dullahan read as Halloween without a single pumpkin in frame. Keep it to one creature per image.

Styles with a spooky register

The cute register

For kids' parties and classroom prints, swap the register with a style word. Claymation, storybook illustration, kawaii, and felt craft each turn the same cast friendly.

Things worth making

Party invitations, greeting cards, coloring pages, and phone backgrounds all take the same prompts with a format phrase added: greeting card layout with copy space, black and white coloring book page, clean line art, phone wallpaper, 9:16. When it goes wrong

Everything comes back orange. One color word floods the frame. Name all three: base, black, and accent. Pumpkin orange, flat black, acid green accents holds the balance.
The image turns gory. Words like haunted and ghoul pull some models toward horror, and the chat image models may refuse the render once it reads as gore. Steer the register with style words: storybook, claymation, friendly.
Low light turns to mud. A dark scene with no named source renders murky. Add one bright source and say what it is: full moon, lit window, lantern.
The invitation text is gibberish. Midjourney and Stable Diffusion still garble lettering. Ask GPT-Image or Nano Banana for short real text, or prompt for copy space and set the type yourself.
